Spare parts search – an indispensable part of the spare parts supply

For the GEBHARDT service team, supplying our customers with GEBHARDT original spare and wear parts is an important part of the service concept.

Thanks to our SAP ERP system, the corresponding spare and wear parts can be provided quickly and easily, especially for newer GEBHARDT systems. However, there are still a large number of GEBHARDT conveyor systems in use that are 20 years old, for which parts research is not that easy. In this case, the GEBHARDT service team uses a variety of data sources. Even before the company-wide introduction of the current SAP ERP system in the mid-2010s, different merchandise management systems were in use. Together with the CAD applications in use at the time, these systems have formed the database for order processing since the turn of the millennium. For the work of the GEBHARDT service team, the parts master data could be transferred to the current system for the most part. In the area of order parts lists, a browser-based solution was developed for research purposes so that this data would also be available in the future.

However, a computer-based parts search is not possible for all GEBHARDT conveyor systems still in operation. Thus, documents are regularly accessed that are only available on microfilm. For this purpose, the GEBHARDT service team still has a suitable reading device for this type of documentation. Thus, the appropriate spare and wear parts can also be provided for conveyor systems from the early days of the company.

However, the GEBHARDT service team is not only responsible for GEBHARDT's own conveyor systems. In the past, the support of systems from various other manufacturers was added here. For these, the relevant documents were transferred to our SAP ERP system or existing database systems were reused to ensure an adequate supply of spare and wear parts for systems from companies such as Schön & Sandt or Lippert.

Regardless of the age of the conveyor systems, however, it is always the case that complete information about the required part must be available for quick and correct part identification. This includes the GEBHARDT machine number, the installation position and also a photo of the manufacturer's type plate attached to the part. The following applies as a matter of principle: The quick and complete provision of the required data helps to keep the effort for the parts research as low as possible.
